Surface Prep. & Painting
The most important part of any paint job is the surface preparation. Unfortunately, it is also the most overlooked. A properly prepared surface will hold a paint system for ten years or more.
I utilize a variety of carbide scrapers and sanding methods to achieve a sound substrate prior to the application of the primer coat. All loose woodwork is refastened using a combination of galvanized or stainless steel nails and screws, pre-drilling where necessary to prevent splitting. I then apply a full coat of premium grade primer to all prepared surfaces followed by a complete caulking of all open seams and joints. After ample drying time, I apply the finish paint system to complete the job.
After nearly thirty years of personally restoring church steeples, I have thoroughly researched my product lines and I have what I believe is the best system for the longest lasting paint job.
